 Screen saver installation

Installing a screen saver in *.exe format

These files can be one of two different types:

  • EXE files that unpack themselves

  • EXE files with direct installation

 EXE files with direct installation

The installation routine is started by double clicking on the *.exe file. Just follow the instructions by clicking on "OK" or "Continue".

 EXE file that unpack themselves

This screen saver format unpacks itself and copies itself into a directory when you double click on it. The directory will either be newly set up in the unpacking process, or the file will be copied into the same directory that the screen saver.exe file is in.

Among the unpacked files is an installation file (for example setup.exe or install.exe) which starts the actual installation routine when you double click on it. Further installation steps are explained in the installation directions.

Or, a *.scr file appears after unpacking is finished, which then must usually be copied into the Windows directory (C:\WINDOWS). .

Some screen savers consist of several files, whose destination directory is listed in the accompanying readme.txt file (most of the time, the files must be copied manually).
