RAF Sea King
The Sea King Sikorsky helicopter has been in service with the US Navy since 1961.
It fulfills numerous objectives in the field due to its versatility. It was originally designed to be a ship-based helicopter. Its five rotor blades can be folded so the helicopter can fit into a ship's hangar or into the belly of a cargo plane for transport. The specially customized version for the Royal Air Force has Rolls-Royce Bristol Gnome turbines and modified equipment. The Sea King is used for search and rescue (SAR) missions. The cabin of the helicopter offers room to either 22 passengers or nine people on stretchers, medical personnel and materials.
