Unfortunately they pop up again and again in shareware and freeware: tools used for spying - Spyware. They document the surfing behavior of the user and then pass this information on, without the users knowledge, to various companies. They furthermore make changes in the registry which might occupy unnecessary system resources during the computer start up. If you want to put a stop to this, you must use programs that will sniff out Spyware. A really effective source of protection is the free tool Ad-Aware , that has even been awarded the "Insider Shareware Award 2001". Ad-Aware searches through main memory, registries and hard drives , lists all the files it finds, and then deletes them completely with a mouse click. If you like, you can also set up your PC so that it automatically scans for Spyware after each new Windows Start. An extended version that includes a monitor program that runs in the background is available on the homepage of the manufacturer.
